Hi Paul
You can change the ports being used but you have to login using a telnet
client.
Have you tried telnet to port 3333 on your host? That is the port the
hoster supplied I presume.
If you can login there you can run @configure and change the ports for both
telnet and the Webside.
That is how V4 worked I think it's the same for V5.
Using WinMoo the port set on the command line overides the port set by
@config for telnet.
>From the snippet of text you posted from the startup it looks like the
startup script never passed on the new port to the server. The 7777 port is
the default in the core I believe.
EnCore actually uses 3 ports, the host's HTTP port, usually port 80, a port
for telnet, in your case 3333 but 7777 by default and a port for enCore's
internal webserver, by default 7000. The one set on the command line is
always the Telnet port.
Therefore your hosting service needs to give you 2 ports one for telnet, in
your case 3333, and another one for the HTTP server in enCore. That port is
what get's changed with @config and doesn't take effect until the DB is
restarted.
Check your startup script and restart it you should see #0 now listening on
port 3333 if it correctly passed the new port.
Ciao
KJ

Subject: [Encore] Questions re ports and Encore
I found a free host.
Installed Lambda Moo and Encore 5 db.
When I started it, I used
......public_html/encore/bin$
<mailto:basil at mcp-server:~/public_html/encore/bin$> ./moo encore.db 3333
It did it's thing, but came up with:
Oct 26 17:33:21: LISTEN: #0 now listening on port 7777
Oct 26 17:33:21: LISTEN: #32 now listening on port 7000
MY questions are, does it always open these ports?
Can I get it to use the port I was assigned (free hosting)?
Can I get the web interface to work on any other port than 7000?
Cheers
Paul
