Depends on what you mean with "log"; the latest status or the changes to the quota. (1) To retrieve the quota _change_, you can read the $quota_log (as a mailbox). This is chronologial. As far as I know, there is presently no tool to sort these changes by name, number or size. (2) To retrieve the quota _size_ itself, do the following two steps. Type (one line): eval for p in ($object_utils:descendants($builder)) suspend(0); me:tell("@measure new ", p); endfor Take the output produced and paste all of it at once into the command line, then hit return. This measures the quota. The automatic counting doesn't work well, and this way, you start with a freshly counted list. Disregard the output after this, you don't need it. Next, type eval for p in ($object_utils:descendants($builder)) suspend(0); me:tell("@quota ", p); endfor Take the output and paste all of it at once into the command line, then hit return. This gives you the quota of each player. *** I _guess_ you want give each existing player more (or: enough) quota. I guess you want to find out whose quota needs to be augmented, and that's why you asked the question. If this is true, you might consider to augment the (ridiculously low) default quota size for future players as well, so you won't have to always do this manually after builders run into E_QUOTA and send you emails on Sunday night like "HELP... I don't understand this... It says I'm out of quota... But I have a paper to submit and it's due tomorrow morning... Has it something to do with my password?... What do I do?...", you get my drift. (1) The default value first. Type eval $quota_utils.default_quota which should return => {50000, 0, 0, 1} Now change the first number in the list. Be careful not to mess up the list. Do this: @setprop $quota_utils.default_quota to {500000, 0, 0, 1} This augments the initial quota by factor 10. You can specify anything you want here, you can augment it by factor 100 if you want to as well. (2) Next, give the existing players enough space. You don't really need to check who is near the out-of-quota-limit, you can batch everyone. You might do it like this: eval for p in ($object_utils:descendants($builder)) suspend(0); if ((q = p.size_quota[1]) < 500000) me:tell("@quota ", p.name, " is 500000"); else me:tell("\"(", p.name, " had already a quota of ", q, ")"); endif endfor Change the two places where it says '500000' to what you set it to in the default_quota value above. Paste, run. Take the output, paste, run. It will only set the builders with the inferior quota, and will not touch the others. (All this will be so much easier soon.) Hope this helps, good luck - Daniel From jung@uib.no Wed Nov 3 14:41:51 2004 Received: with ECARTIS (v1.0.0; list encore); Wed, 03 Nov 2004 14:41:51 -0600 (CST) Return-Path: X-Original-To: encore@nobel.utdallas.edu Delivered-To: encore@nobel.utdallas.edu Received: from iq1.utdallas.edu (iq1-pmn.utdallas.edu [192.168.1.7]) by nobel.utdallas.edu (Postfix) with ESMTP id B00AC5BAD for ; Wed, 3 Nov 2004 14:41:51 -0600 (CST) Received: from localhost (mf1-pmn.utdallas.edu [192.168.1.8]) by iq1.utdallas.edu (Postfix) with ESMTP id 60BAA2663 for ; Wed, 3 Nov 2004 14:41:51 -0600 (CST) Received: from mx2.utdallas.edu ([129.110.10.17]) by localhost (mf1 [10.110.10.13]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with LMTP id 05665-01-72 for ; Wed, 3 Nov 2004 14:41:48 -0600 (CST) Received: from noralf.uib.no (noralf.uib.no [129.177.30.12]) by mx2.utdallas.edu (Postfix) with ESMTP id DB52739F0 for ; Wed, 3 Nov 2004 14:41:47 -0600 (CST) Received: from alfred.uib.no (smtp.uib.no) [129.177.30.120] by noralf.uib.no with esmtp (Exim 4.34) id 1CPRwv-0003Sm-Qn; Wed, 03 Nov 2004 21:41:46 +0100 Received: from tunnel-45-25.vpn.uib.no [129.177.45.25] by smtp.uib.no for encore@utdallas.edu with esmtp (Exim 4.34) id 1CPRwv-0004n1-B4; Wed, 03 Nov 2004 21:41:45 +0100 Message-ID: <41894288.9000601@uib.no> Date: Wed, 03 Nov 2004 21:41:44 +0100 From: Daniel Jung User-Agent: Mozilla Thunderbird 0.8 (Windows/20040913) X-Accept-Language: en-us, en MIME-Version: 1.0 To: encore@utdallas.edu Subject: [encore] Re: Quota logs? It sounds like perhaps your base URL is incorrect in the @config. ??? Can you log in OK via telnet? Another possibility might be what you mentioned in your earlier message regarding mootcan. I know that when I set up my winmoo there were two versions of mootcan in the enCore distribution. I had problems with my initial installation, but I tried the other version (I think the older version) of mootcan and it worked fine. Perhaps you might try shifting to the other version of mootcan and see what happens. It's time now for an update on what has been happening. The mission of the consortium is simple: "The enCore Consortium seeks to coordinate and promote the open source development and distribution of the enCore Program." After the Symposium, twenty individuals have joined the Consortium--all interested and experienced enCore MOOers from all parts of the world. A consortium website has been established (http://www.accd.edu/sac/english/lirvin/encoreconsort/Default.htm) as well as an online Forum site for communication (http://www.lirvin.net/moodle/). The focus of the Consortium's work since September has revolved around three Task Forces: 1) Organizational Task Force 2) Programming Task Force 3) Teacher/User Development Task Force The Organizational Task Force proposed, and members voted approval for, the formation of the consortium as an unincorporated, non-profit organization. This new non-profit should be established by the end of the year. With this non-profit status, the consortium will then be able to solicit funds and make grant requests to foundations and other institutions. The Teacher/User Development Task Force is in the process of identifying improvements needed to enCore from a "user's" perspective--student, teacher, administrator. By mid- to late December, this Task Force should have a comprehensive and prioritized list of development tasks for enCore improvement (from a user's perspective). This list of priorities will go to the Programming Task Force which will then go through them with a programmer's perspective. The end result, hopefully by January 2005, is a master list of development tasks for enCore to give our efforts some direction. The job will then be to coordinate and support this development work. As you can see, there is a lot happening and a lot yet to do. If you are interested in the Consortium's work, we invite you to join. In particular, this November the Consortium is working to determine what our first priorities should be regarding changes to enCore. We need your ideas, creativity, energy, and interest in enCore to improve this program. In order to join the enCore Consortium, go to http://www.lirvin.net/moodle/ and click LOG IN to set up your user account. Once you are in the Developing enCore site, you can join the discussion in the various Task Force Forums. If you are interested in enCore, but would rather not join the Consortium, we invite you to submit your ideas for how enCore might become better as posts to this encore-list. They will join the other ideas proposed already. What ideas do you have for enCore development? I have a question that I am sure is basic on the properties of an object that I am creating.

I have programmed an object, but it says "Property not found" on line 1 on both of the verbs that I have programmed.

Line 1 of one of the verbs is:
if (this.kinds)

Line 2 of the other verb is what this.kinds is equal to.

Am I missing something?

Thanks so much for the help!

Best to all,

Debbie

I think what you = are doing is otherwise okay. Once a property with the name "kinds" exists = on the object, you will be able to read it and set it from verbs. Thanks for your help. I discovered that the problem was the base URL. Although it was set, after the technician rebooted the server he overwrote the base url by typing WinMoo encore.db test.db as opposed to WinMoo test.db test.db to restart the server. I think I will have a few questions about other settings later on. Kris On Fri, 12 Nov 2004 12:30:52 +0800, Kris Olson wrote: > Hello everyone > > I am trying to set up a MOO at school.
