Right now, if I read a note or letter the text of the note appears in both the text-side of the MOO and the GUI side. Would it be possible to have the text only show up on the left and not the right if one were to ? (I'm still interested in the text of notes showing in the web interface, but I'm thinking up an object that would not do so.) Notes also seem to maintain some vestiges of text-moo functions that haven't translated into the web setting. Notes have a separate properties for Description and Note Text. If you it should open the description. If you it should only open the text of the note. But if you or the EnCore MOO does the same thing and opens the text on both sides of the MOO. Just noticing. Barbara, Exits are actually bypassed by the web interface; they have been replaced with clickable hyperlinks that point directly to their destination - and although this is a very convenient and intuitive way to move around the MOO I agree there is not much interaction left with them. I found an easy way to put back exits to their right place in the player moving sequence which will consider @locks and such. Basically what I did is make the hyperlinks point to the actual exits so they can generate their own webpage that uses old verification mechanisms before moving the player. Here it goes: ========================================= Step 1) In $encore_web_utils:generate_links, replace: 11: if ($object_utils:isa(object, $exit) && (!use_exit_name)) 12: linkname = object.dest.name; 13: link = tonum(object.dest); With: if ($object_utils:isa(object, $exit)) linkname = use_exit_name ? object.name | object.dest.name; link = tonum(object); Step 2) Create the following verb: @verb $exit:_html this none this rdx And program it as follow: ------------------------ user = args[1]; if (user.location == this.source) this:move(user); if (user.location == this.dest) return {""}; else return user.location:_html(user); endif endif return pass(user); ------------------------ ========================================= If you ever try it tell me how it works:) - Alexandre Borgia From Lirvin@accdvm.accd.edu Wed Jul 23 05:44:54 2003 Received: with ECARTIS (v1.0.0; list encore); Wed, 23 Jul 2003 05:44:54 %z (CDT) Return-Path: X-Original-To: encore@nobel.utdallas.edu Delivered-To: encore@nobel.utdallas.edu Received: from null-pmn.utdallas.edu (null-pmn.utdallas.edu [192.168.1.1]) by nobel.utdallas.edu (Postfix) with ESMTP id 306D15BE3 for ; Wed, 23 Jul 2003 05:44:54 -0500 (CDT) Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by null-pmn.utdallas.edu (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7FE7C1A0930 for ; Wed, 23 Jul 2003 05:44:52 -0500 (CDT) Received: from mx0.utdallas.edu ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (ns0 [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with LMTP id 13359-01-31 for ; Wed, 23 Jul 2003 05:44:48 -0500 (CDT) Received: from ACCDVM.ACCD.EDU (accdvm.accd.edu [209.184.119.1]) by mx0.utdallas.edu (Postfix) with SMTP id 10F9D38A8A for ; Wed, 23 Jul 2003 05:44:48 -0500 (CDT) Received: from irvin.accdvm.accd.edu [10.1.11.6] by ACCDVM.ACCD.EDU (IBM VM SMTP V2R4a) via TCP with SMTP ; Wed, 23 Jul 2003 05:43:18 CDT Message-Id: <5.0.2.1.0.20030723054832.00a2f2f0@accdvm.accd.edu> X-Sender: Lirvin@accdvm.accd.edu X-Mailer: QUALCOMM Windows Eudora Version 5.0.2 Date: Wed, 23 Jul 2003 05:49:23 -0700 To: aborgia@videotron.ca, encore@utdallas.edu From: Lennie Irvin Subject: [encore] Re: Web exits can be real exits :) In-Reply-To: <000b01c350bd$a565d060$de00a8c0@alex> References: <3F1D5732.4020608@optonline.net> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed X-archive-position: 876 X-ecartis-version: Ecartis v1.0.0 Sender: encore-bounce@utdallas.edu Errors-to: encore-bounce@utdallas.edu X-original-sender: Lirvin@accdvm.accd.edu Precedence: bulk Reply-to: Lirvin@accdvm.accd.edu List-help: List-unsubscribe: List-software: Ecartis version 1.0.0 List-Id: X-List-ID: X-list: encore If anyone implements this on their MOO, I'd love to see how it looks and works before trying it on my MOO.
