It starts with... As I said in my previous mail, if I download a new encore.db, everything works fine, ie the db starts up, and both web and telnet access work fine, no problems. I can only imagine that there is some incompatibility between using the old database under a new version of Linux and/or a new version of the Lambdamoo server. When I start the old database (the one from our MOO), it just produces a log file (see above) and does not start. Can anybody help with this? It seems like a linelength problem, similar to porting problems from Windows to Linux??? IE your trying to run a MSDOS DB on a *nix box. I /think/ its having issues reading line feeds and carriage returns. Any help on this would very welcome... we have a grad class using the MOO right now and we would like to teach a bit of building and programming, but I think that might be hindered by this. I'm fairly certain that there is something simple I'm overlooking, but I can't figure out what. The parent verbs can be used by the child object, but they won't turn up in the verbs() listing. If it's just that you don't see them. Then, that does it. If you can't call them, then the above is absolutely useless, and the problem is different - in this case: whoopsy - sorry ! ;). I'm = using the Encore=20 DB on WinMOO, so I'm not sure which part this is a symptom of -- Every = emote or=20 saying is being echoed back to it's originator.  I'd like to turn = off this=20 feature.  Anybody know how to do this??
