Though Jan's mentioned that the new version of encore won't be compliant with some earlier browsers, I tested MacOSX on the GUI using our MOOca java applet on Project Achieve. And everything works fine. But I'd love it if any other MacOSX (10.1) user could come by and try it out. I'm sure that there are some bugs, but I've not caught any yet. Perhaps we can release MOOca as an alternative that has a wider browser base. If there's any interest, perhaps I can nudge dave and traveller into whiping up a distribution package and instructions. For Xpress users you have another option. The property #0.room_connection_points designates any number of public spaces where users may connect their room. When a new user builds her first room, the connection points that you have designated will all show up in a convenient pop-up menu in the Xpress Object Editor. When she then picks a connection point for her new room, the exit and entrance is created and added automatically. To start using this system, first gather the object numbers of all the rooms you wish to use as connection points. Then type the following: @set #0.room_connection_points to {#nnn, #nnn, #nnn, #nnn} Where #nnn represents the rooms you wish to use as connection points. I'm after making the MOO dummy-proof. Here's the situation I'm thinking of: Our tutoring center could have a link for "Online Tutoring" or "Talk to a Tutor" from their website. When a student clicked on the LOGIN link, it would log them in as a guest and then take them directly to the Tutoring Center inside the MOO. The Library might have another link from its Online Services homepage--"Ask A Reference Librarian." The student would click the link/login and it would log them in as a guest to the Reference Desk inside the Library inside the MOO. A teacher might have a link from his or her course web page "Go to Online Classroom" and when the student clicked the link and logged in it would take them directly to the teacher's classroom within the MOO for the class. (I suppose in this case it is just as easy to get the students upon their first login to @sethome to the classroom...). Is it possible to have these "variable" login sites? Thanks for any ideas you might have. Lennie _________________________________ L.
